Welcome
Horsemanship with Impunity is the true art of working, playing, communicating with or riding your horse in a safe and calm way. Impunity occurs when this is free from punishment, judgement, pain and the horse and rider both have the ability to accept change. By considering the horse’s mental state, behaviour and innate characteristics the horseman can communicate effectively using understanding, body language and trust to develop a true and lasting relationship.
With his Romanian gypsy heritage, Karl Cook comes from a people who have been well known for their horsemanship. After spending his formative years learning about nature and horses from his grandfather, Karl has had the opportunity to work with many horsemen throughout Europe. He continues to develop his skills and natural ability through keen observation, wide reading and with the aid of his mentors. Karl’s mentors include not only top natural horseman but also animal behaviourists. Karl’s philosophy for both the horse and rider are that they must first have safety, then comfort and finally confidence to successfully learn. He recognized a need for teaching Horsemanship with Impunity.
Ask yourself these questions:-
Does your horse come to you willingly and without a bribe?
Does your horse move away from you softly on the ground when asked?
Does your horse stay out of your personal space when asked?
Does your horse stand quietly next to you without rubbing on you, biting or kicking?
Does your horse stand still for you to mount?
Does your horse load into a trailer willingly and calmly?
Can you rub every inch of your horse's body without negative reactions?
If you answered “Sometimes” or “No” you may want to consider how much your horse respects and trusts you and how “safe” your horse truly is.
